Alt Andet End Andersen
Imagine the fairytales as not the end, but the point of departure.
I played the role of dramaturg in a play where the audience decides the events, resulting in a fairytale that is “everything, but Andersen”.
Inspired by choose-your-own-adventure novels, early text-based computer games, and impro-theatre, the play Alt Andet End Andersen explores what happens if you give the audience full control of the directions at every junction of the narrative. It started as an Andersenian tale, but it didn’t end that way.
The play explored ideas of the stage as a place of creation and performativity rather than about transmission and reproduction.
